Sam likes the pool now

Since getting home from Maine the temps have been near 100 degrees with the heat index (feels like temp due to humidity levels) has been over 100. The only thing we can do outside now is go in the pool. The park is out of the question due to the heat and honestly the beach is just way too much work for me with the 2 kids. Abbie has no fear of the water and I have to run after her all the time leaving me with nothing to do with Sam. So, our pool and nice safe back yard are where we spend our time now. I have my hammock chair, Sam has his swing or the pool and Abbie has the pool, sandbox and any sort of mud hole she can create.
I'm currently looking into pre-schools for Abbie. I know that I waited too long, we really should have done this last winter but, we just recently decided that she needs it. I find many days that she's just bouncing around the house with no real direction. School would provide her with some structure and will be a great opportunnity for her to play with other kids her age. The school we looked at today is perfect except for the fact that it's filled up and we're like 5 on a waiting list. The good news is that they are considering adding on a class for almost 3 year olds. If they do that than she can be in a class with older 2 year olds which I think would be better for her anyway. She towers over 2 year olds now as it is and she usually plays with older kids anyway. We'll see...all I can do is wait. I have another school to tour tomorrow, so maybe I'll love that one just as much. They do have openings for 2 mornings per week. I'd prefer 3 mornings but I'll take what I can get.

We had a great time in Maine last week and thank you to everyone for a wonderful vacation. It was so nice to see all my family that I haven't seen in over a year. I'm so happy that you all were able to meet Sam and to see Abbie. She had so much fun at GG's house. She talks about the tea partys and the garden, her special Dora bed and baking with Pappa Bruce. Also, I'm glad that we made the trip up to Castine. It's a long car ride and difficult for Sam being so young, but it was worth it. Abbie loved the chickens and the gradens and seeing Grampy and the birds. She loved climbing the stairs to Grammys room and seeing all the Indian things she has up there. She talks about baby Daddy all the time now because she saw his pictures and played with his old toys. It was a wonderful trip and we look forward to seeing you all again. It may not be in July like we talked about though. The plane ride home was difficult and honestly I'm not ready to do it again quite so soon. Maybe by this fall we'll be ready again.
